Erdős–Straus conjecture

Category: Mathematics

Status: Queued

For every integer n ≥ 2, the fraction 4/n can be written as a sum of three unit fractions 1/a + 1/b + 1/c with positive integer a, b, c. Verified for n up to 10^17 but unproven in general.

Related to Egyptian fractions and to the deeper question of how efficiently rationals can be written as sums of unit fractions.
