Yang–Mills existence and mass gap
Category: Mathematics
Status: Queued
Establish rigorously that a non-trivial quantum Yang–Mills theory exists on R^4 and has a strictly positive mass gap. This is the remaining Millennium Prize problem in mathematical physics.
Physics evidence (lattice gauge theory) strongly suggests the mass gap exists, but no mathematically rigorous construction of interacting four-dimensional QFTs is known.
