Where is Genghis Khan buried?

Mongol tradition deliberately concealed the burial place of Genghis Khan after his death in 1227 CE. The location has never been conclusively identified despite extensive searches.

Candidate regions in the Khentii Mountains have been surveyed using remote sensing. The Mongolian government has been cautious about deep excavation out of respect for sacred sites.
