Why does the replication crisis persist?

Category: Psychology

Status: Queued

Many classic findings in social psychology, cognitive psychology and behavioural economics have failed to replicate when tested rigorously. Causes include publication bias, low statistical power, p-hacking and weak theory.

Pre-registration, registered reports and large multi-lab collaborations have improved practices, but the fraction of psychological literature that can be relied on is still unclear.
