Can ageing itself be treated as a disease?
Category: Medicine
Status: Queued
Geroscience proposes that ageing is a coordinated set of biological processes that can be intervened upon. Senolytics, rapamycin, metformin and various caloric-restriction mimetics have shown lifespan extension in model organisms.
Whether any of these meaningfully extends healthy human lifespan, and whether ageing should be a regulatory disease category, is actively debated.
