Is moral realism defensible?

Category: Philosophy

Status: Queued

Moral realists hold that there are objective moral facts. Anti-realists (error theorists, expressivists, constructivists) deny this in various ways. Each position faces serious objections: realism faces an epistemological problem, expressivism the Frege-Geach problem, and so on.

The debate intersects with metaphysics, philosophy of language and moral psychology. No consensus has formed.
