Can we regenerate human limbs and organs?

Category: Medicine

Status: Queued

Salamanders regenerate entire limbs, and zebrafish regrow heart tissue. Humans cannot. Understanding why mammals lost this capacity — and whether it can be re-engineered — is the goal of regenerative medicine.

Approaches include induced pluripotent stem cells, 3D-printed scaffolds, and reprogramming with developmental morphogens. Clinical translation is at very early stages.
