Can life exist on icy moons?

Category: Astronomy

Status: Queued

Europa, Enceladus, Titan, and Ganymede are believed to host subsurface liquid water oceans. Enceladus's plumes contain organic molecules and hydrogen — hallmarks of habitability.

Whether any of these environments supports life is unknown. Missions like Europa Clipper (launched 2024) and Dragonfly (Titan, 2028) aim to bring new data.
